Another great angling event that brought tension and exictement as the day unfolded. We are now in the heat of summer and the sun shone for us all day. It was an early start with 38 hungry fishermen tucking in to bacon sandwiches before 8 o'clock to charge their batteries for the main event. They tackled their foe with gusto and nearly all bagged their prey.
as the day came to a close the victors of the sections were Roy Nye, Lloyd Mahoney, Kev Keeling and Martin Haimowitz. The overall winner was Mick Blackburn. Congratulations to them all.
Once again the real winner was the SAM Fund as £1232.59 was raised on the day. £100.00 of this was donated to Basildon Hospital and £150.00 to St Francis Hospice at the wish of the Aveley Angling Club members.
Our thanks go to the many helpers on the day - Brain Weston, Fred Cubick, young Michael, Andy Jones and Mark Fromant. Thanks to the main organisers Martin Haimowitz and Terry Pike. Massive thanks to the many sponsers for both angling events, Bowlers's angling, Mainline Baits, Ockendon Bait, Keswalls Angling, Robertsons Tackle and Pike Butchers. Last but no means least thanks to the chairman Barry Newton and the anglers of the Aveley Anglling Club for nominating us as their chosen Charity for 2013.
